Six Sentence Sunday

Disabled Navy Veteran Tyler Hardin suffers from debilitating PTSD. It's no surprise that the unexpected death of his mentor has triggered a migraine, nor that the medication he must take opens the doors wide open for the nightmares.

The Six:
He struggled against the pull of the dream for a minute, but it was stronger than he was, and soon, he was sucked under the dark spell once again.

People were screaming and he couldn’t get to them, couldn’t help, because he couldn’t fucking move! He could smell the smoke, feel the heat as the fire crept closer. This time, Gibby, was underneath the heavy canvass with him, unconscious, unaware of the certain death that was in the flames, licking their way toward them both.

“Noooo,” Ty screamed, and struggled to move the steel support bars that pinned him to the ground. He had to reach Gibby before the fire took him.

  6. Thanks for your comments. This scene was a dream, a nightmare, brought on by his PTSD and the intense emotions of losing the man he considered a father. It was so real to him, because he had lived it before, and barely survived.
